Last Tuesday I had my first Design Review as a full fledge Designer. Of course I have gone through these for the past year and a half, but under our new 'system', it was a lot more pressure and the collection was completely mine to present. I wasn't terribly nervous, lately it has really been a shot in the dark whether you get a good review or a bad one it seems, but I was proud of what I had to show and just went forward. That's my new motto...keep putting one foot in front of the other until things figure themselves out. So I did just that....I ended up getting rave reviews. I was not expecting that at all. Then I presented a second time and also got rave reviews there, a few things I need to adjust, but the concept was there. It felt so good to know that I do know what I am talking about and can earn my keep there according to the new people in charge. Plus, the really important guy was there to see me present and he was impressed with one of my proposals. I just hope he remembers my face with the design. I think he will, I have actually worked with him a few times and had a happy hour with him once. Now as my dad would say....SHOW ME THE MONEY! ;) It's true though, seriously, show it to me! Wish me luck on that.
So Brandon thought now that I made it through Design Review 1, I would have my free time back. HAHAHAHAHA, I just made it through the first gate. Now I have to design for Design Review 2 and in the mean time, get all the approved designs from DR1 out the door to the factories. Makes my head hurt. I spent as much time as I could working from home the last week of Feb. and first week of Mar. I have a nice space set up in our guest room. I light some candles, turn on pandora, if I am lucky I open the window, and pray that the creativity fills my soul. This second part I won't be able to be out of the office designing as much and you can pretty much bet on not getting anything creative done while at the office. So who knows when I will get it all done.
I am Team Captain for Team Columbia's Walk MS Team. So far, I haven't even had a chance to do much. So this week I need to kick it into high gear. I am going to organize a sort of bake sale at work. Just for my department. I am known for making awesome brownies so I think I am going to make a bunch and sell them. I wanted to bake a different treat for each day, but I am not prepped for that. Plus I need to send out a little warning so people remember to bring their money. Ugh, I wish I could be more on top of this. But I am hoping to raise some good money (Columbia will match 100% what I raise up to 1K) and also encourage a lot of people to join us. Hopefully I can snap some shots to document my thrown-together-last-minute fundraiser.
I also wanted to post some belated birthday photos......enjoy!
Hope this finds everyone doing well!
This was a window display that I thought was so lovely decorated for V-Day
I came back from my trip to a decorated cube...I have really awesome co-workers that make sure you feel special on your special day. They had made a banner and even labeled everything in my cube. They had a v-day exchange while I was gone, but they made sure I got all of my Valentines. <3>
An example of some of the stuff that was labeled...I am still finding stuff! All the yellow tape you see were labels.
The the giant taped sign. LOL, it was sweet none the less. I wish I had an outward view of my cube, I just moved to the designer's Quad and I have a window view....not directly, but I am only a cube away now....so that is kind of cool.
My home studio in our guest room. I wish I had more time to be creative in there with non-work related stuff. Someday, someday....
Oh, ps, Grandma & Grandpa....that light box you see on the table is what I got for my birthday with the money you sent....thank you!! ;) It helps when I am sketching and have been wanting one for awhile now.
