It's been so hot out and that just zaps you after awhile. We don't have air conditioning here in the NW and besides family and friends, that is the next most important thing that we miss from Nebraska! Plus, watching Jack all these afternoons and evenings has inspired me. The life of a pet. They have it so good!
Brandon is working today until 5:00. For those who have not heard, the company Brandon was working with closed one of their locations at the end of April. The same day, the classes he was teaching at Reed College ended for the school year. Since then, he has been able to pick up a few hours each week at the Athletic Club he was subbing at and was also asked to teach a summer conditioning class at an all girls Catholic School. It's not much, but at least breaks up the week and brings in a little money. He was able to reapply to unemployment this week so hopefully things will pass through fine and we'll have a little bit more help from that. It's hard to be unemployed and even harder when there are no options out there....I've looked too and there are not any, besides sales positions and we've tried that before. Not our cup of tea. Plus with me working so much, we haven't seen much of each other lately. So I planned a little date for us tonight and tomorrow.
Tonight I am going to pick him up from work and we are going to Portland City Grill for Happy Hour. It's a great place to sit back and enjoy the view of our dear Portland and enjoy great happy hour priced food! Tomorrow we will be going to an event called Sunday Parkways. The city closes down a bunch of streets once a month in a different neighborhood and people can come walk/run/bike to get out and enjoy a new part of their city. Then I want to head to Hagg Lake. It's about an hour drive from our house, but will be a great place to get away from the heat and enjoy a nice picnic.
I have many posts to catch you up on, hopefully I can get through a few tomorrow. Time flies so fast, but I want to share our 4th of July fun and treats from when my sister was in town. Until then, I'll be cuddled up to this guy:
